Are you hoping to have some good days in math this year? science? history? band? Do you want to be a better basketball player, volleyball player, singer, actor, science bowler? The truth is there is one thing that you really need to be successful this year. The answer is sleep. According to many studies teenagers need at least 9 hours of sustained sleep each night in order to perform well. You need 9 hours because your body's release of melatonin is getting quite mixed up these days - at the same time other chemicals and hormones are having some issues. This causes your body to desire, need, more sleep and at odd times. You are not lazy because you suddenly want to sleep in on the weekends or you struggle to get up in the morning. Your body is simply letting you know that you need more sleep. What can you do? Watch your diet for things that might keep you up. Have a bedtime routine that is consistent. Limit your screen time (computer, gaming and phones) before you go to bed. And don't sleep in American History...
